The Ways of Men

The Ways of Men, written by Eliot Gregory and published in 1900, is a collection of essays that examines the complexities of human behavior and societal norms in America. The book begins with a discussion of the origins of the term 'Uncle Sam,' linking it to Samuel Wilson's role during the War of 1812, and transitions into satirical commentary on domestic life and the absurdities of modern civilization. Through various anecdotes, Gregory reflects on American identity and the quirks of everyday life, making this work both entertaining and thought-provoking.
