The Story of Wandering Willie

On a bitter New Year's Eve, an old man crosses the snow-covered moors toward a village that has waited for him all year. They call him Wandering Willie, and his arrival is an event. He carries letters from distant relatives, yes, but more importantly, he carries stories. Children gather round as he prepares to share the tale of his long wandering life. What unfolds is a meditation on memory itself, rendered through one man's journey across decades of solitude and hardship. Willie has known loss. He has walked these moors through seasons of grief and joy alike. Yet what emerges from his telling is not melancholy but hard-won wisdom: that kindness endures, that nature offers solace, that the stories we share bind communities together across time. This is a quiet book with enormous heart. It captures something essential about why we tell stories at all, and why an old wanderer's tales of the road matter on the coldest night of the year.
