The Story of Bawn

The Story of Bawn, published in 1906 by Katharine Tynan, follows Bawn Devereux, a young girl raised at Aghadoe Abbey in Ireland. As she navigates her sheltered life with her grandparents, Bawn confronts themes of innocence, societal expectations, and the haunting legacy of her family's past, including the mystery of her Uncle Luke's disappearance. The narrative blends elements of supernatural folklore and explores Bawn's evolving relationships, particularly with her cousin Theobald and the enigmatic Richard Dawson, as she is drawn into a broader social world.
