The Romance of Leonardo Da Vinci, the Forerunner

Florence, 1494. The fall of the Medici sends shockwaves through a city where ancient statues are unearthed in the shadow of Savonarola's pyres. In this combustible moment, Leonardo da Vinci stands as a figure too vast for his era, a scientist who dissects corpses to understand the human form, an artist who believes painting is a science, a thinker whose curiosity borders on heresy. Through the eyes of Giovanni Boltraffio, his young apprentice, we witness Leonardo wrestling with the great conflict of the age: the ancient world's recovered wisdom versus a Church determined to stamp it out. Merezhkovsky, the Russian symbolist, constructs not mere biography but a philosophical drama about the price of genius in a world terrified of knowledge. This is a novel where every unveiled truth feels dangerous, where the Renaissance burns as brightly as the fires of damnation. It asks what it costs to see what others cannot, and whether beauty can survive in an age that demands faith over sight.
