The Professional Aunt

The Professional Aunt, written by Mary C. E. Wemyss and first published in 1914, is a humorous exploration of family dynamics through the eyes of a woman who embraces the role of a professional aunt. The protagonist navigates the expectations set by her sisters-in-law, particularly Zerlina, as she reflects on her responsibilities toward her nieces and nephews. The narrative blends whimsical anecdotes with deeper themes of love, duty, and childhood innocence, providing a unique perspective on familial relationships in the early 20th century.
