The Outdoor Chums on the Gulf; Or, Rescuing the Lost Balloonists

It's summer 1911, school just let out, and four boys are about to have the adventure of their lives. Frank, Jerry, Will, and Bluff the Outdoor Chums receive an irresistible invitation: a motorboat trip to Florida, courtesy of Frank's cousin Archie. But there are sealed orders from Frank's father, and the boys aren't told everything. What begins as a pleasure cruise down the Gulf Coast quickly becomes something more dangerous: a fire rescue, treacherous characters lurking in the swamp, and a test of friendship that will require real courage. Quincy Allen writes with the breathless energy of a boy recounting his summer to jealous classmates, packing every chapter with action, loyalty, and the open-water romance of early automotive travel. This is adventure fiction in its purest form, when a motorboat was still miraculous and the Gulf held secrets worth risking everything to uncover. Perfect for readers who loved Tom Sawyer and Hardy Boys alike, or anyone who believes the best summer stories happen on the water.
