The Outdoor Chums on a Houseboat; Or, The Rivals of the Mississippi

Four college friends. One aging houseboat. A legendary river. When Will Milton's eccentric Uncle Felix invites the Outdoor Chums to travel the Mississippi on a houseboat, Frank, Will, Jerry, and Bluff picture something grand. What they get is a rickety vessel held together by optimism and spit. The boys' good-natured complaining about their modest accommodations becomes part of the fun, but they're not on the river for comfort. They're after adventure: fishing, swimming, exploring small towns, and testing their friendship against the unexpected. Uncle Felix's cryptic warning about a dangerous man named Marcus Stackpole nags at them, and as they drift deeper into summer, they begin to notice a shadow following them downriver. This is Huck Finn energy for a new generation. It's warm, nostalgic, and full of the simple joy of friends on an open road (or river). Perfect for readers who want classic adventure without heavy darkness.
