The Master of St. Benedict's, Vol. 2 (of 2)

The rain pounds Cambridge as Lucy waits, her heart clenching with every passing hour. Wyatt Edgell has not returned. She knows his weaknesses, his battles with the bottle that threaten to undo his brilliant mind, the demons that shadow his every step. Yet she loves him with a ferocity that has become her own kind of faith. When Eric Gwatkin proposes a great sacrifice to save Edgell from himself, Lucy must decide what she will give up - and what she will demand in return. This second volume of The Master of St. Benedict's plunges deeper into the web of love, loyalty, and ambition that binds three lives together within the walls of Newnham College. The Master watches from his domain, scholars strive beneath Gothic windows, and beneath the genteel surface of Victorian academia, passions simmer and identities fracture. Lucy, forced to confront her own fears and desires, discovers that loving someone can be both salvation and destruction. For readers who crave Victorian novels of moral complexity, where love asks everything and the heart's contradictions lead characters through the crucible of their own making.
