The Legend of the Lincoln Imp

The Legend of the Lincoln Imp, written by H. J. Kesson and first published in 1927, is a whimsical narrative poem that tells the story of a mischievous imp who disrupts the sanctity of Lincoln Cathedral. The imp's antics lead to chaos among the cathedral's officials, ultimately resulting in his transformation into stone by a tiny angel as punishment for his irreverence. This light-hearted tale blends folklore with humor, conveying moral lessons about respect and the consequences of one's actions, particularly in sacred spaces. The booklet also includes illustrations and photographs of the famous Lincoln Imp figure, a notable grotesque carving in the cathedral.
