The Honorable Peter Stirling and What People Thought of Him

The Honorable Peter Stirling and What People Thought of Him, published in 1894 by Paul Leicester Ford, is a novel set in New York that explores themes of love, ambition, and personal growth. The story follows Peter Stirling, a young man from a humble background, as he navigates societal expectations and his feelings for Miss Pierce. The narrative contrasts Peter's earnest nature with the dominant perspectives of those around him, particularly regarding romance and ambition, reflecting the complexities of life in the late 19th century. This work provides insight into the labor movement and the challenges faced by individuals in tenement houses during that era.
