The Girl in the Mirror

The morning after Barbara Devon's wedding, her brother Laurie stands at the threshold of an unfamiliar life. For years bound by family obligation and his own troubled past, he suddenly finds himself unmoored in the bustling aftermath of celebration. In the quiet corners of Devondale, Ohio, a mysterious girl appears only in mirrors, a flickering vision that seems to promise something Laurie can't quite name. Is she a warning, a wish, or the ghost of who he might become? Meanwhile, young Jimmy Harrigan, a caddie from the wrong side of town, drifts into their orbit, his presence a reminder that freedom means different things to different people. Elizabeth Garver Jordan crafts a tender, unsettling portrait of reinvention: the terror and exhilaration of choosing who you want to be when no one is watching. This is a novel about the moments that quietly reshape us, and the courage it takes to leave the past behind.
