The Ghost in the Tower: An Episode in Jacobia

The Ghost in the Tower: An Episode in Jacobia is a fictional narrative by Earl H. Reed, written in the early 20th century. Set during Christmas in Michigan, the story follows a narrator who encounters the ghost of Emric Szapolyai, a former Hungarian duke turned robber baron. Through their conversation, Szapolyai shares humorous tales of his past and reflects on the evolution of morality from his time to the present. The novel blends ghost story elements with themes of isolation, nostalgia, and the contrast between past and modern ethics.
