The English Rogue: Continued in the Life of Meriton Latroon, and Other Extravagants: The Fourth Part

The English Rogue: Continued in the Life of Meriton Latroon, and Other Extravagants, first published in 1665 by Richard Head, is a fictional novel that follows the adventures of the charming rogue Meriton Latroon as he navigates a world of cheats and deceivers. The narrative begins with a perilous incident involving Latroon and a ship's crew as they leave St. Helena for Messina, setting the stage for comedic escapades filled with ghost stories and mischievous characters. Initially deemed forbidden due to its indecency, the book was secretly circulated until it was licensed, and it has since influenced the rogue genre in literature. This edition includes Head's original work along with additional volumes by Francis Kirkman, who continued the story in 1671.
