The Curse of Drink

The Curse of Drink

W. C. Tuttle

Humour, Novels

In the dusty cowtown of San Pablo, the most unlikely theater troupe in the American West assembles for a cause: staging a temperance play called 'The Curse of Drink' to raise money for charity. The saloon owner himself, Hank Boll-Weevil Potts, gets roped into the production by the fiercely determined dramatic teacher Eveline Annabel Wimple. When the town's two best punchers, Pewee Parker and Hozie Sykes, sign on as actors, chaos is basically guaranteed. Romantic entanglements, mistaken identities, and a showdown between two rival towns derail every rehearsal. The lead actor gets knocked out at the worst possible moment, and the entire production teeters on collapse. Yet somehow, improbably, the show must go on. W. C. Tuttle writes with a sharp eye for the absurdities of small-town life, turning a simple charity fundraiser into a rollicking comedy of errors where everyone tries their best and absolutely nothing goes according to plan.
