The Cruise of the Canoe Club

In the summer of their youth, four friends set out to conquer the waterways in this spirited tale of adventure and friendship. Charley Smith, Tom Schuyler, Harry Wilson, and Joe Sharpe are determined to make their canoe cruise a reality, but first they must navigate the very adult problems of financing their expedition and choosing the right vessels. With more enthusiasm than experience, they seek counsel from the Commodore of a local canoe club, receive conflicting advice from seasoned paddlers, and ultimately launch their fragile crafts onto rivers and lakes that promise both hilarity and hazard. What follows is a series of entertaining mishaps and genuine thrills as the boys learn to work together, trust each other, and discover the particular joy of freedom found on the water. W.L. Alden captures something timeless about the bond between friends who share an adventure, the satisfaction of overcoming obstacles, and the open-hearted optimism of youth. The Cruise of the Canoe Club endures for readers who crave stories of friendship tested by genuine challenge and found true.
