'that Very Mab

'That Very Mab' is a late 19th-century fantasy novel by May Kendall that follows Queen Mab, a fairy navigating the complexities of modern civilization. The story contrasts her whimsical existence with societal changes in both Polynesia and England, highlighting her innocence amidst moral dilemmas. As Mab experiences the disruption caused by missionaries in Samoa and later observes the disillusionment in Britain, the narrative blends fairy tale elements with sharp satire on contemporary life. This work is notable for its exploration of the clash between fairy realms and human realities.
