Snow-Blind
In the dead of winter, a young woman is pulled from the snow barely alive, her eyes burned white by reflection off the frozen landscape. In a remote cabin cut off from the world, she must navigate a household of strangers guided only by voice, touch, and instinct. Sylvie has been told that Hugh, her gallant rescuer, is a hero. She pictures a young boy when she hears Pete's voice. She imagines Bella as a kindly matron. But as her other senses sharpen in the darkness, Sylvie begins to perceive truths her benefactors never meant to reveal. What begins as a tale of survival becomes something sharper: a story about the lies we tell to protect ourselves, and the inconvenient honesty of listening with more than just our ears.
