Secret Service; Or, Recollections of a City Detective

Published in the late 19th century, 'Secret Service; Or, Recollections of a City Detective' by Andrew Forrester is a collection of detective stories that offers insight into crime and political corruption in Victorian England. Featuring seventeen short stories, including 'Mistaken Identity' and 'Matrimonial Espionage', the work explores themes of deception and moral complexities within the electoral process. Forrester's narratives, which predate the Sherlock Holmes series, provide a critical commentary on the manipulative strategies employed in politics and the nature of crime during this era.
