Royal Book of Oz (version 2 Dramatic Reading)
The Scarecrow has a problem. While Professor Wogglebug compiles the royal genealogies of Oz, documenting the ancient lineages of every noble citizen, Scarecrow realizes he has no family tree at all. He was once a farmer's scarecrow, stuck on a bean pole in a cornfield, dressed in old clothes and filled with straw. Who were his people? Where did he come from? The not-knowing becomes unbearable, so he sets off across Oz with Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion to find his roots. Their journey takes them through strange kingdoms, past talking animals, and into encounters with new friends and cunning foes. What Scarecrow discovers about himself along the way is neither what he expected nor quite what he was looking for. Thompson's 1921 Oz adventure is a wondrously strange tale about identity, belonging, and what it means to have a past when you can barely remember being a pile of straw.
