The Cowardly Lion of Oz, published in 1923, is the seventeenth book in the Oz series, written by Ruth Plumly Thompson and illustrated by John R. Neill. This children's fantasy novel follows the Cowardly Lion as he embarks on a quest to replenish his courage, mistakenly believing he must eat a courageous man to do so. Alongside new companions, including a circus clown named Notta Bit More and an orphan boy named Bob Up, the story unfolds in the whimsical land of Mudge, filled with quirky characters and humorous situations. This installment continues the legacy of L. Frank Baum's original Oz tales.
