Raspberry Jam
A pristine locked bedroom. A millionaire dead on his own sheets. And every door bolted shut from the inside. When Sanford Embury is found dead in his New York mansion, Detective Fleming Stone faces one of his most tantalizing puzzles: how did anyone reach a second-story room sealed tight as a tomb? The victim's young wife lived under his thumb, no cash, no independence, no freedom. Every servant, every guest, every potential heir had reason to want Sanford Embury silent. But only one person left behind the damning clue: a smear of raspberry jam where it should never have been. Carolyn Wells, the master of Golden Age detection, serves up a puzzle as precise as a combination lock. Every alibi is airtight. Every suspect has a secret. And the solution, when it arrives, feels both impossible and inevitable. For readers who believe the best mysteries aren't about who, but how.
