Peter Ibbetson

Peter Ibbetson, published in 1891 by George Du Maurier, is a semi-autobiographical novel that follows the life of its titular character, who is sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and later confined to a lunatic asylum. The narrative delves into themes of memory, love, and the impact of past experiences, as Ibbetson reflects on his idyllic childhood in France and his deep emotional connections. The story uniquely explores the boundaries between reality and fantasy, particularly through the protagonist's ability to dream of his lost love, making it a notable work in the fantasy fiction genre.
