Pamela Censured

'Pamela Censured' is an early 18th-century anonymous critique of Samuel Richardson's novel 'Pamela; or, Virtue Rewarded.' The author argues that Richardson's portrayal of moral virtue is undermined by lurid content, suggesting that the narrative may mislead young readers into misconstruing Pamela's experiences as virtuous. Presented as a letter to the editor, the text dissects specific instances in the original work that challenge its moral integrity and suitability for its audience.
