Ned, Bob and Jerry at Boxwood Hall; Or, The Motor Boys as Freshmen

The year is 1916. Automobiles still possess the power to astonish, and three friends Ned Slade, Bob Baker, and Jerry Hopkins are about to discover that the open road leads to more than just adventure. While motoring through the countryside, they happen upon a terrible accident: a driver named Mr. Hobson trapped, his vehicle crumpled against the road. The boys act without hesitation, rescuing the man in a display of quick thinking and courage that marks the end of their carefree boyhood. Word of their heroism reaches their families, and soon the trio finds itself embarking on a new chapter at Boxwood Hall, where freshman year awaits. But college in 1916 is no ordinary education in Latin and mathematics. It is a proving ground where young men must navigate rivalry, social hierarchies, and the first stirrings of adult responsibility while somehow holding onto the friendship and daring that defined their youth. Clarence Young captures the electric threshold between boy and man, between adventure and duty, with an energy that still crackles across the century.
