Machine Stops (version 4)

The Machine Stops is a science fiction novella by E. M. Forster, first published in 1909 and later included in his collection The Eternal Moment and Other Stories in 1928. The story explores a future where humanity lives underground, relying entirely on a vast machine for all needs, predicting technologies like instant messaging and the Internet.
