Love and Freindship
Written in 1790 when Jane Austen was just 14 years old, 'Love and Freindship' is a juvenile parody of romantic novels. Presented in an epistolary format, it humorously critiques the conventions of love stories, featuring absurd coincidences and the failure of romantic ideals. This early work showcases Austen's developing wit and her disdain for the melodrama typical of her time, foreshadowing the themes present in her later, more mature novels.
