Kabumpo in Oz, published in 1922, is the sixteenth book in the Oz series and the first fully credited to Ruth Plumly Thompson. The story follows Prince Pompadore of Pumperdink during his eighteenth birthday celebration, which is disrupted by an exploding cake that reveals a scroll warning him to marry a 'proper princess' within seven days to save his kingdom. Accompanied by the Elegant Elephant Kabumpo, they embark on a whimsical adventure to the Emerald City in search of Princess Ozma. This installment continues the magical legacy of L. Frank Baum's Oz universe with humor and enchanting challenges.
