It Might Have Been Worse: A Motor Trip from Coast to Coast

It Might Have Been Worse: A Motor Trip from Coast to Coast, published in 1920 by Beatrice Larned Massey, is a travel narrative detailing her journey across the United States from New York City to San Francisco in a newly purchased Packard car. The book captures the experiences, landscapes, and cultures encountered during this ambitious 4,154-mile trip, emphasizing the emotional atmosphere of departure and the camaraderie shared among Massey, her husband, and friends. Notable for its insights into early 20th-century automobile travel, it serves as both a guide for fellow travelers and a reflection on the joys and challenges of road trips during that era.
