Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal

Published in 1907, 'Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal' by Roy Horniman follows the life of Israel Rank, a character whose aspirations lead him down a path of criminality. The novel explores themes of identity, ambition, and morality, set against the backdrop of Edwardian England. Notably, it served as the inspiration for the classic film 'Kind Hearts and Coronets' and uses satire to address the anti-Semitism of its time. Horniman's witty narrative style adds a comedic twist to the story of a serial killer, challenging conventional moral standards.
