In the Name of the People is a novel by Arthur W. Marchmont, first published in 1911. The story follows Ralph Donnington, an Englishman who travels to Lisbon to pursue a romantic interest in Miralda Dominguez while also seeking business opportunities in East Africa. As he navigates his quest, he becomes entangled in the political unrest of the city, facing danger and intrigue, including a street riot and confrontations with armed assailants. The novel combines elements of love and adventure against the backdrop of early 20th-century Portugal.
