In Search of the Unknown
In Search of the Unknown
In Search of the Unknown, written by Robert W. Chambers in the early 20th century, follows a superintendent at the Bronx Zoological Gardens on an expedition to find the supposedly extinct great auk and a mysterious amphibious biped. The narrative blends adventure and mystery as the protagonist grapples with skepticism and scientific ambition, prompted by eccentric claims from a hermit named Burton Halyard. This work is notable for its early exploration of horror elements and has been recognized by H.P. Lovecraft for its unique style and potential in the genre.
