His Majesty's Well-Beloved: An Episode in the Life of Mr. Thomas Betteron as Told by His Friend John Honeywood

Restoration London burns with gossip, ambition, and desire. When rumors threaten to tarnish Thomas Betterton, the most celebrated actor of the age, his humble friend John Honeywood takes quill to paper to set the record straight. Writing to Mary Saunderson, the woman who holds his heart, Honeywood mounts a passionate defense of his friend while navigating his own secret hopes. Through his letters, we enter a world where actors occupy a precarious social position, beloved by audiences yet vulnerable to the cruelties of reputation. This is a story of loyalty, love, and the precarious dance between art and respectability in an age of scandal and reinvention. The epistolary form gives the novel an intimate, conspiratorial quality, as if we're reading Honeywood's soul on the page.
