Evelina's Garden

Two women named Evelina. Sixty years apart. The same devastating choice. The elder Evelina Adams has spent her life tending her magnificent garden, transforming heartbreak into beauty while the world passes her by. Now past seventy, she exists in quiet exile, her only companions the flowers she cherishes and the memories she cannot release. When her young cousin arrives - another Evelina, barely beginning her life - the stage is set for tragedy to echo across generations. The young woman finds herself drawn to the son of the man who once broke her elder namesake's heart. Freeman writes with earned restraint, letting quiet devastation accumulate like fallen petals. The garden is both sanctuary and prison, a space where beauty thrives while the soul withers. This is a haunting meditation on inherited sorrow, on whether we can escape the patterns our ancestors set in motion, and on the question that haunts every牺牲: does giving up everything for love redeem anything at all, or does it merely ensure the next generation will suffer the same?
