Ella Barnwell: A Historical Romance of Border Life

Kentucky, 1780. The wilderness is unforgiving, and the Revolutionary War bleeds across the frontier like an open wound. Ella Barnwell, a young woman forged in the hard honesty of pioneer life, finds her quiet world shattered when she encounters Algernon Reynolds, a wounded stranger with a haunted past and secrets written in the lines of his face. Rescued from death by the noble woodsman Titus Pendleton, Algernon brings danger in his wake and stirs emotions in Ella that her simple life has never prepared her for. As British agents and hostile forces close in, Bennett weaves a tale of survival, courage, and forbidden love against the raw backdrop of early American settlement. The landscape itself becomes a character, vast, beautiful, and lethal. What begins as a rescue becomes a web of loyalty, betrayal, and the impossible choices faced by those who dare to build a future on the edge of civilization. For readers who crave historical fiction with genuine period texture, this is frontier romance as it was originally told: muscular, atmospheric, and unapologetically dramatic.
