Dorothy Dale in the City

It's nearly Christmas at Glenwood Hall, and Dorothy Dale can barely sit still. After weeks of lessons, secret societies, and hijinks with her closest friends, she's finally heading home for the holidays. But between the chaos of packing and the playful mischief of hiding a feather bed, Dorothy finds herself caught in that strange melancholy that hits just before leaving somewhere you've learned to love. As she journeys toward family and celebration, she carries with her the quiet realization that going home and saying goodbye can feel remarkably similar. The holiday season glows in the background, but this story belongs to the small moments: the conspiratorial laughs with friends, the anticipation of presents andparsed tableaus, and the particular ache of being young and constantly in between places.
