Children of the Moor

In the bitter winter of a northern Swedish famine, seven children walk into legend. Led by young Andy, who pulls a sled bearing his two smallest sisters, they flee the poorhouse with nothing but their goat Golden Horn and fierce determination. The moor is vast and white and hungry; so are they. Along the road they meet the Spectacle Man, a lame shoemaker who feeds them and fashions shoes for their bleeding feet. They encounter hard hearts and soft ones, cruelty and unexpected grace. Then comes the storm on the frozen river, and in the whiteout a toddler slips from the sled unseen. What follows is a story about what survives when everything is lost: hope, faith, and the stubborn belief that somewhere ahead, someone will help. This is adventure as the old world told it, harsh, beautiful, and full of heart.
