Children of the Cliff

In the blistering heat of a dry, rocky landscape, two siblings wander too far from home in pursuit of baby rabbits and find themselves swallowed by wilderness. Teni and Mavo wake to find their world inverted: the familiar trails gone, the horizon offering only mesquite and stone. As hunger sets in and night approaches, they encounter dangers that test every fiber of their courage a group of hostile strangers, the vastness of an unforgiving land, the gnawing fear that they may never see their parents again. But salvation arrives in the form of Demino, a solitary cliff dweller who emerges from the red rocks like a figure from another age, offering shelter, food, and the strange hospitality of a world these children never knew existed. ThroughDemino, they discover an ancient people who have made their homes in the cliffs for generations, learning new ways, forming unexpected bonds, and ultimately finding their way back to the arms that love them. This is a story about the ache of being lost and the miracle of being found, about the courage it takes to wander and the greater courage it takes to return.
