Captain Lucy in the Home Sector

The war has ended, but its shadows linger in the quiet streets of Coblenz. Lucy Gordon, a young nurse's aide, finds herself stationed with the American Army of Occupation, far from the America she longs for. Her brother Bob remains overseas in harm's way, and Lucy carries that worry like a second heartbeat. Through the long days at the convalescent hospital, she discovers that healing others becomes its own form of courage. A chance encounter with Captain de la Tour, a ghost from her past, throws her careful equilibrium into question. As she navigates new friendships, including a promising connection with fellow soldier Larry Eaton, Lucy must decide what she owes to the past and what she can offer the uncertain future. For readers who enjoy historical fiction that captures the overlooked emotional landscapes of postwar periods, this novel offers a window into a young woman's struggle to find meaning after devastation.
