Boy Scouts in an Airship; Or, the Warning from the Sky
1912
In 1912, when airships still seemed like impossible dreams to most people, three Boy Scouts receive a secret assignment that will take them beyond the horizon. Ned Nestor, Jimmie McGraw, and Sam Leroy must pilot their airship Nelson across continents to Paraguay, where an American cattleman named Lyman sits imprisoned by corrupt officials. A Secret Service agent briefs them in San Francisco, but from the moment the boys sense they're being watched, they know their mission has already begun. Mysterious enemies trail their every move. The Nelson itself may be in danger from foes who will stop at nothing to see the flight fail. What follows is a breathless race through dangerous skies, where courage and camaraderie mean the difference between rescue and disaster. This is early aviation adventure at its most exuberant: a window into an era when flight was still miraculous, when boys could change the world with daring, and when a secret mission required nothing less than touching the sky.
