Blindfolded

The setup is deliciously unnerving: two men, identical in every feature, separated by distance but bound by blood. When Giles Dudley arrives in San Francisco to join his distant cousin Henry Wilton, he discovers his double living in fear, a man haunted by some sinister syndicate and desperate to save a child from their grasp. Before Giles can learn more, Henry is butchered in the night. Now Giles must assume his cousin's identity to survive, playing a dead man's role while the real killers believe their work is done. A policeman warns him to keep up the pretense until the murder is solved. But these are dangerous enemies, and they will not hesitate to finish what they started. With time running out, Giles must find the child they were both trying to protect, and outsmart a conspiracy that nearly broke a man with his own face. This is early pulp crime fiction at its most gleefully devious: identity becomes a mask, resemblance becomes a weapon, and survival means becoming someone else entirely.
