Blacksheep! Blacksheep!

Archie Bennett has spent his life in the shadows of more vibrant people. At forty, he's become his sister's household manager, a timid soul who types letters and manages domestic affairs while her husband bustles through important business. When Archie is sent to inspect a summer rental in the country, he expects nothing more than an uncomfortable errand. Instead, he stumbles into an eccentric household and meets Isabel Perry, a woman who sees through his meekness to the adventurous spirit beneath. What begins as a simple real estate commission becomes a revelation. Through encounters with colorful characters and Isabel's sharp wit, Archie discovers reserves of courage he never knew he possessed. Nicholson writes with warm humor and keen social observation, charting one man's improbable transformation from domestic drudge to man who might actually live. It's a comic gem about the courage it takes to stop being afraid of your own life.
