Blackie Thorne at Camp Lenape

Blackie Thorne arrives at Camp Lenape with a reputation to outrun. The other boys have heard about his troublemaking, and they're watching to see if a "bad boy" can survive among seasoned campers. But summer camp has a way of remaking people. What follows is the timeless story of transformation through friendship, challenge, and the great outdoors. Blackie clambers onto a hay-wagon filled with eager boys, drives through the camp's beautiful grounds, and settles into Tent Four, his new home among strangers who might become brothers. He learns to make his bunk, navigates friendly pranks, and hears rumors about a mysterious hermit called Rattlesnake Joe who lives in an old house on the property. This early 20th-century camping adventure captures the spirit of Boy Scouts, the magic of wilderness, and the enduring hope that every boy contains the possibility of becoming something better. Perfect for readers who love stories of redemption, friendship, and the summer that changes everything.
