Bat Wing Bowles

Dixie Lee rides back into Arizona after a stint in New York, carrying Eastern polish and a sharper tongue. She expects the desert to feel like home. What she finds is Bowles, a gentleman from back East who's decided to become a cowboy. He's bought a ranch, adopted the lingo, and earned himself the nickname 'Bat Wing' from locals who find his attempts sidesplitting. He's hopeless. He's ridiculous. And there's something about those earnest Eastern eyes that gets under her skin. The desert is full of hard men who've never left the range. Bowles is soft, laughable, and completely out of his depth. Yet he keeps showing up, keeps trying to learn, keeps looking at her like she's the most fascinating thing he's ever encountered. The cowboys laugh. Dixie might too, if she weren't starting to care whether he makes it.
