Bart Stirling's Road to Success; Or, the Young Express Agent

Allen Chapman

American Literature, Children & Young Adult Reading, Novels

In the sweltering heat of a Small Town Fourth of July, seventeen-year-old Bart Stirling should be celebrating like everyone else. Instead, he's holding down the local express office, filling in for his father who lies ill after some terrible accident. The cargo is piling up, the townspeople are impatient, and one of his employees, the rough and tumble Lem Wacker, is making trouble. But Bart doesn't have time for fireworks. His family is depending on him. When a mysterious colonel arrives in town with an old grudge, and a borrowed cannon turns a celebration into disaster, Bart finds himself caught in troubles far bigger than misdelivered packages. He'll need every ounce of his courage and integrity to navigate the mess he's in, protect his family, and prove that a young man with a strong moral compass can still find his road to success.
