At the Back of the North Wind is a children's fantasy novel written by Scottish author George MacDonald, first published in book form in 1871 after being serialized in 1868. The story follows a young boy named Diamond who befriends the mystical Lady North Wind, embarking on whimsical adventures that explore themes of kindness, imagination, and the consequences of one's actions. Notably, the book includes the fairy tale 'Little Daylight' and has been adapted for children by Elizabeth Lewis in a simplified version published in 1914, illustrated by Maria L. Kirk.
