A Golfing Idyll; Or, The Skipper's Round with the Deil on the Links of St. Andrews

A Golfing Idyll; Or, The Skipper's Round with the Deil on the Links of St. Andrews, written by Violet Flint and first published in 1978, is a narrative poem that blends folklore and humor within the context of golf. The story follows the Skipper, who recounts a bizarre encounter with the Devil during a late-night round at St. Andrews, where he is challenged to a match that reveals the stakes of pride and vice. This work captures the spirit of golfing culture while serving as a cautionary tale about the dangers of alcohol and the supernatural.
