Woodes Rogers was an English sea captain and writer, best known for his accounts of his adventures as a privateer and explorer in the early 18th century. Born in the late 1670s in the port town of Poole, Dorset, Rogers gained notoriety for his daring voyages, particularly his circumnavigation of the globe from 1708 to 1711. His experiences during this journey were chronicled in his influential work, "A Cruising Voyage Round the World," published in 1712. This book not only detailed his exploits against Spanish ships but also provided vivid descriptions of the lands he visited, including the Pacific islands and the coasts of South America. Rogers's narratives contributed significantly to the genre of travel literature, blending adventure with practical information about navigation and exploration.
“It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,A beautiful day for a neighbor.Would you be mine?Could you be mine?...It's a neighborly day in this beauty wood,A neighborly day for a beauty.Would you be mine?Could you be mine?...I've always wanted to have a neighbor just like you.I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.So, let's make the most of this beautiful day.Since we're together we might as well say:Would you be mine?Could you be mine?Won't you be my neighbor?Won't you please,Won't you please? Please won't you be my neighbor?””
“Any day that is not crowned with the Christian being consciously and conspicuously filled with the Holy Spirit is a wasted day. It will be lost for all eternity. At the judgment seat of Christ it will, at best, be counted as wood, hay, and stubble (1 Corinthians 3:12). What golden opportunities we let slip through our fingers because the Spirit is not in control. There has never been a greater day or age to witness for Christ than ours. There is such a need and such a hunger everywhere.””
