Question 1

What's the best Joseph Corry book to start with?

Accepted Answer

For most readers, Observations upon the Windward Coast of Africa: The Religion, Character, Customs, &c. of the Natives; with a System upon Which They May Be Civilized, and a Knowledge Attained of the Interior of This Extraordinary Quarter of the Globe; and upon the Natural and Commercial Resources of the Country; Made in the Years 1805 and 1806; with an Appendix, Containing a Letter to Lord Howick, on the Most Simple and Effectual Means of Abolishing the Slave Trade is the most popular Joseph Corry title on Lex. It's available free as both an ebook and a downloadable EPUB, so you can sample it before committing to a longer work.

Question 2

How is Lex different from Project Gutenberg for reading Joseph Corry?

Accepted Answer

Lex sources public domain books from Project Gutenberg, Standard Ebooks, and the Internet Archive, but adds a modern reader (custom fonts, themes, highlights, bookmarks, dark mode), human-narrated audiobooks for the major works, native iOS and Android apps, and reading progress sync across devices. Project Gutenberg provides the raw EPUB files; Lex turns them into a reading experience.

Question 3

Is Lex free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Lex is free to use for all public domain books and audiobooks, including every Joseph Corry title. No signup is required to read or listen. A premium tier exists for AI features and exclusive originals, but the entire public domain catalog is free forever.
