Tuffy Todd's Adventure: A True Story

There is something timeless about a dog story, and this 1890s narrative poem proves it. Tuffy Todd is the beloved family dog who finally gets his wish: accompanying his owner Orrin on a summer trip to Griffin's Corners in the Catskill Mountains. But when a smooth-talking stray offers to show him a shortcut, Tuffy's excitement leads him into trouble. Lost in the gathering dark, far from anyone who knows his name, the frightened dog must find his way back to the only person who ever loved him. The verse bounces along with genuine period charm, and the emotional beats land where they should: the fear of a lost animal, the relief of home, the forgiveness that asks nothing but love in return. It is, at its heart, a story about what it means to belong to someone, and to be welcomed back when you have strayed. Perfect for reading aloud to little ones, or for adults who still remember the books that first taught them about loyalty.
