Timmy Whoof: A Story of a Little Pet Bear

A cinnamon bear cub loses everything when his mother is captured, only to find an unexpected guardian in a shepherd named Timothy. What begins as a rescue becomes a tender friendship between boy and bear, as Timothy teaches the frightened cub to trust again through invented games and gentle care. But Timmy Whoof carries the wild in his blood, and as he grows stronger and tamer, the call of the forest becomes impossible to ignore. When a nighttime cry from his companion saves Timothy from a landslide, the bond between them is sealed forever. Yet the most beautiful act of love is letting go: Timmy returns to the wild, carrying the shepherd's kindness with him always. Written in simple chapters for young readers, this early 20th-century tale offers adventure, humor, and a quiet meditation on what it means to love something enough to set it free.
